The Alpha Door
It's where it all began, Hide-A-Way Door's own, The Alpha Door. Since then this mastery of concealment door designs has taken on many shapes, Pool Cue Alpha, Wine Glass Alpha, Alpha Door with see through mirror backing (super cool trust me) and most recently, the Double Alpha Door. Make no mistake about it though, if you want to conceal a room, this is your door. Once installed, the bottom finishes off by painting it the same color as your wall, you can even install baseboard trim across it!
One reason of many to own a Bookcase Door, commonly known as Hidden Doors, is because there are so many uses for them. A Bookcase Door turns a simple and boring normal doorway into a beautiful piece of furniture your family will love for years!
Looking for something more covert? You've come to the right company, this is the Home of the Alpha Door! Only available from Hide-A-Way Doors, the Alpha Door is constructed a bit differently than other bookcase doors. Each Alpha Door come with 3/4" cabinet grade backing for strength & durability; it's available in every type of wood we supply and fits in any standard opening, some custom sizes are available.
The drawbacks: The Alpha Door design necessary for total concealment is not intended for main entrances or high traffic areas. Alpha Doors are only available in an in-swing door (right or left). Some minor site work is required (small drywall seam patch), and there is a small step over roughly to enter a room roughly 6" high. The Alpha Door, only available from Hide-A-Way Doors, is specifically designed for concealing a room, if concealment isn't necessary we suggest our standard bookcase doors which doesn't present room entry restrictions.
The Benefits: Coolest door on the market, handmade from real wood. No obvious swing gaps (standard doors have small spaces at the bottom and top for outswing doors). Total concealment. 3/4" plywood backing helps with soundproofing & security. Perfect for concealing gun/ ammo rooms, safe rooms, food storage, etc. Specially designed pivot hinges transfer weight to the floor and not to the jambs making normal operation under heavy loads a breeze. Alpha doors can be customized.
The Best Part: Custom built secret wall units with hidden doors are usually built on site by teams of men; a very expensive and time consuming task. The worst part of that is everyone that is involved knows you have a secrete room. Our Alpha Door design is built in our specialty wood shop in Morristown, TN and ships all over the country and parts of Canada and when it arrives, it's ready to install with just 1 helper!!!
Alpha Doors are a product of Hide-A-Way Doors and are made in the USA.

MDF vs Real Wood
Know what you are buying when you buy from a competitor
MDF & the reasons we do not use it at Hide-A-Way Doors: MDF, or Medium Density Fiberboard, a commonly used material by some manufacturers to maximize their profitability. MDF usually comes with a “wood like” veneer to make it appear like real wood. Less expensive than natural wood, MDF binders in the glue resin usually contains urea formaldehyde which is a toxic chemical used to strengthen the material. MDF does not hold up well in humidity, it is weaker it does not hold screws or nails very well. MDF lasts a fraction of the time that real wood does. Real wood grain patterns are like fingerprints, each are unique, but MDF with wood like veneer is man-made that has an unnatural uniform appearance.
The Hide-A-Way Doors way: Our bookcase sides, shelves, and adjustable shelves are made from cabinet grade plywood made from real wood, all of our trim case molding, face frames, threshold, jambs, and moldings are made from solid real wood. Why take our word for it? Do the research for yourself MDF vs Real Wood.
